The goal of our program in Spanish is to prepare students for responsible, active participation as citizens in the global community. Our hope is that students will acquire a broader perspective of the world, an understanding of diversity, and a respect for the humanity of others. We encourage involvement in co-curricular activities offered on campus as well as volunteer opportunities within the local Hispanic community. You can minor or major in Spanish. The Spanish faculty recommends that all Spanish majors and minors participate in a study abroad program.
We are also aware that many areas may interest you. Spanish combines extremely well with other disciplines. You can double major or complete a minor in any another academic area. Create a program that matches your individual interests and goals. Some Spanish classes count toward the Business Scholars Program, Film Studies, Gender Studies, Race & Ethnic Studies and the Medieval & Renaissance program, making it easy for students to combine interests.
