Department of Modern Languages and Cultures

The Spanish Program

Studying Spanish at Hanover is your key to the world! Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world, with over 400 million people speaking the language in 21 countries, over 50 million of them in the U.S.  Hanover's program will immerse you in the Spanish language and the cultures it represents from day one. Come & explore the rich diversity of the cultures of Latin America and Spain on campus, in study abroad programs and through internships. After graduation you will be ready to contribute your talents in the global community!

The goal of our program in Spanish is to prepare students for responsible, active participation as citizens in the global community. Our hope is that students will acquire a broader perspective of the world, an understanding of diversity, and a respect for the humanity of others. We encourage involvement in co-curricular activities offered on campus as well as volunteer opportunities within the local Hispanic community. You can minor or major in Spanish. The Spanish faculty recommends that all Spanish majors and minors participate in a study abroad program.
